QK8010
Description
This manual flush bolt features a spring-loaded snap-action lever: moving it to the "up" position retracts the bolt, while moving it to the "down" position projects the bolt into the head frame.
Note: For metal doors, a pair (top & bottom) of manual flush bolts should be used on the inactive leaf of double doors.
Features
Non-Handed
Lever can be moved to the “UP” position whenever the active door is open to allow retraction of the bolt and opening of the inactive door
To lock the closed inactive door, lever can be moved to the “DOWN” position allowing the bolt to be projected into the strike securely
For use with steel hollow metal doors, wood doors, or composite doors

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What is the "Flip-Style" operation mentioned in the title?
A: The "Flip-Style" refers to the spring-loaded snap-action lever. Unlike a simple slide bolt, this lever "flips" or snaps between positions. Moving it "UP" retracts the bolt (to allow the inactive door to open), and flipping it "DOWN" projects the bolt securely into the strike.
Q2: Can this specific model (QK8010) be used on wooden doors, or is it strictly for metal doors?
A: Although it is primarily designed for metal doors (as indicated by the 12" rod length suitable for hollow metal door thickness), the description explicitly states it is also suitable for wood doors or composite doors. However, for optimal security on metal doors, using a pair (top and bottom) is strongly recommended.
Q3: Why does the bolt rod length matter, and what does "12-inch rod" imply?
A: The 12” (305mm) bolt rod determines how far the bolt can extend into the door frame. This extended length is critical for thick hollow-metal doors to ensure the bolt fully engages with the strike plate, providing a secure lock. Shorter rods might not provide sufficient anchorage in metal doors.
Q4: How does the "Non-Handed" feature benefit my installation?
A: "Non-Handed" means the unit is reversible and symmetrical. You do not need to specify left-hand or right-hand when ordering. This allows the same model to be installed on either side of the door (or on either leaf of a double door) regardless of the door swing direction, simplifying inventory and installation.
Q5: What is the purpose of the "milled side surface" on the plunger?
A: The plunger features a flat, milled surface that slides into a matching guide channel. This is a critical anti-rotation feature that prevents the bolt from twisting inside the door over time, which stops the bolt from unscrewing itself and ensures the mechanism remains aligned and functional.
